The following are highlights of some of the more recent developments in regards to Maxim
Entertainment’s efforts to capitalize on the growing film/tv industry in Louisiana and to
it’s ability to immediately begin film/tv production in Acadiana and to realize return on
investment:
- Currently preparing for a three film slate to be shot entirely in Acadiana, beginning with Bobby’s Team, a comedy about a small town’s softball team rivalry, starring Jim Belushi and Tom Arnold and Dangerous Girls I & II, the first two of a series of screen adaptations of novels written by record breaking kid’s book author R.L. Stine (Goosebumps, Mostly Ghostly, The Haunting Hour).
- Currently in talks with prominent Louisiana business owners to begin expansion efforts into the vendor industry, catering to film/tv business via grip & lighting equipment rentals, food caterin and post production services. Maxim intends to team with established successful companies within the Hollywood film/tv industry to form strategic partnerships to develop new business in the Acadiana area which will cater state wide to the film/tv industry.
- Maxim producer Blaine McManus recently wrapped production on Laugh at LA, a live standup sketch comedy show which began taping it’s first of thirteen shows on October 9th in Los Angeles. Laugh at LA will spin off to other cities (Laugh at Chicago, Laugh at NY, etc.) and will also include Laugh at Katrina, to be co-produced by Maxim. Laugh at LA and all spin-off show variations are expected to be solid money earners through dvd sales and network/cable broadcast. www.laughatla.com

Currently, celebrity actors such as Parker Posey, Alan Cumming, and Ernest Borgnine are involved with Maxim Entertainment projects.
- Recently wrapped production of the full length feature film “Macumba” in Acadiana over the 2007- 2008 holiday break, utilizing equipment and crew provided by area learning institutions (UL and SLCC).
- Have begun working with UL to develop a training program for students to learn the tv/film industry through hands-on, on-set training on films and tv shows being produced in Louisiana and Los Angeles. As part of these efforts, Maxim has presented a plan to also bring students to Los Angeles to work on set on films being shot in Hollywood. This program is specific to Maxim and is unprecedented in the Acadiana area. Currently working with Professor Charles E. Richard, professor of English and Director of Cinematic Arts Workshop at UL.
